Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The engine control module (ECM) checks the signal from the air temperature sensor in the intake manifold.
A DTC is stored if the control module detects that the air temperature (measured in the mass air flow (MAF) sensor) deviates too much from the coolant temperature, the temperature measured in the boost pressure sensor (between the turbo compressor and throttle) or the fuel temperature, after the engine has been switched off for a long time.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed once per operating cycle with the ignition on, but only once the engine temperature has fallen to approx. 50 °C from operating temperature since the previous operating cycle.

Note! The mass air flow sensor and air temperature sensor are integrated in the same component.

Substitute value
- The value for the inlet temperature is generated to equal to the value for the fuel temperature.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in connector.
- Damaged air temperature sensor (integrated in mass air flow sensor).

Fault symptom[s]
- Warning lights and chimes/Malfunction Indicator Light ("Check engine" light) indication/no indication
