Fault-tracing
Checking the wheel sensor and pulse wheel
- Adjust the front end before checking the steering wheel angle.
- Ignition on.
- Set the steering wheel to the straight forward position.
- Read off the steering wheel angle. With the steering wheel and the front wheels in the straight ahead position, the value for the steering wheel angle must be approximately 0°.
- Turn the steering wheel 90° to the right. Check that the value is correct.
- Turn the steering wheel 90° to the left. Check that the value is correct.
If the steering wheel angle does not correspond to the position of the steering wheel, reset the steering wheel angle and calibrate the dynamic stability and traction control (DSTC) system.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off.
- Restore components and connectors.
- Ignition on.
- Test drive the vehicle following:
Check the spin warning light during the test-drive. If the fault has been remedied the lamp will go out when the speed exceeds 20 km/h. If the warning lamp does not go out, return to the workshop and read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
