DESCRIPTION:

Volvo Cars of North America LLC (Volvo) has decided that a defect exists in certain model year 2012 S60 T5 vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions.

Volvo has determined that an independent repair facility will not be able to read out calibration ID data from the Engine Control Module (ECM) with a scan tool. Vehicles may also fail a state emissions test as a result of this defect.

PRODUCT MODIFICATION:

A new ECM SW has been developed. Vehicles built after the chassis range in the header have this SW from the factory. This SW will allow the independent scan tools to communicate with the ECM in order to read the SW part numbers.

SERVICE:

Perform an ECM Upgrade according to VIDA.
