Checking components
Check the intake system for air leakage
Check the fuel and residual pressure. Check for high fuel pressure. Check for leaking injectors.
Click on the VCT2000 symbol and check the mass air flow sensor by reading its correction factor. The value should be between 0.8 and 1.2.
Note! Air leakage must not occur during the reading.
Check the engine oil visually for contaminants.
Check that the oil level is between the minimum and maximum markings
Hint: If the above fault-tracing does not remedy the fault, try replacing the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S), as the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can also be stored by a damaged heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
Remedy as necessary.

Read out and note the adaptation value for the vehicle.
Note! Do not erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) as this also resets the adaptation values!
Test drive the vehicle and perform a TRIP

Read off the fuel trim.
Check that the adaptation value has approached 1 compared with the noted value.
Check that the adaptation value is between 0.9 and 1.1.
Is the value OK?
