Condition
The engine control module (ECM) receives information on brake pedal position via the CAN network. The status of the brake pedal position sensor is obtained from the brake control module (BCM).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- There is no signal from the central electronic module (CEM) or the brake control module (BCM) or the signal is faulty.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition on.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

- Faulty brake pedal position sensor.
- Faulty brake pedal switch.
- Open-circuit in the control area network (CAN).
