Condition




The engine control module (ECM) checks the signal from the outside temperature sensor. The control module compares the signal to the operating range of the sensor.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The signal from the outside temperature sensor is too high.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.

Substitute value
- Value from the engine intake air temperature (IAT) sensor in the intake manifold is used.

Possible source
- Damaged outside temperature sensor
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.

Fault symptom[s]
- Displays too high outside temperature
