DESCRIPTION:
Check engine light on and message in Driver Information Module (DIM) due to leak detection pump malfunction. Engine Control Module (ECM) DTCs 240200 or 240400 may be set.
Analysis has shown that softeners from the rubber hoses contaminate the leak detection pump (also called DMTL in VIDA).
PRODUCT MODIFICATION:
The material in the connecting hoses to the leak detection pump has been changed from rubber to Polyamide (PA) and the hoses have been attached to the pump by crimping. The improved pump was introduced from structure week 2012W09 and is available to order as a spare part.
Part Number: 31321575 (pump and hoses as a kit).
MATERIAL RETURN:
Please note: The pump and carbon canister (part number in VIDA parts catalog) are on mandatory warranty return. When returning requested material, all openings should always be plugged in order to avoid smell or leakage from remaining fuel.
SERVICE:
If no other fault source is found:
1. Replace the pump/hose assembly to the new version according to the attached instructions.
2. Replace the carbon canister acc. to VIDA.
