DESCRIPTION:
Interim solution for painting sensors and and holders for parking assistance system due to discoloring (turning yellow) when painting in white and silver.
(Investigations indicates insecurity for the activator/primer in use combined with the colours in question. Tests are being performed and other solutions are investigated further.)
PRODUCT MODIFICATION:
The aim is that a long term solution is found and will be updated and included in the VIDA 2010-D release. (For all required Installation instructions and models.)
SERVICE:
The recommended interim solution for painting of sensors (until permanent solution is found) is as follows.
1. For C70 (09w46-), C30 (-09w45), S60 (11-), XC60, XC90, S80, and V70/XC70 for all colours:
Sand sensor surface mechanically before painting use sanding paper with grit size P1000. (No need for activator at all after sanding.)
Please do the following:
- Clean the surface with isopropanol.
- Sand the surface carefully with P1000.
CAUTION!
If sanded to much there is a risk of eliminating the protective black layer.
Risk for corrosion if that is the case and then painted upon.
- Clean the surface with isopropanol.
- Paint.
2. For C70 (-09w45), C30 (09w46-), S40 and V50 for all colours except white and silver:
Use existing method in accurate installation instructions. (With the original activator.)
3. For C70 (-09w45), C30 (09w46-), S40 and V50 for white and silver:
Send sensors and holders to authorized paint supplier for painting. (For their expertise and conventional painting.
Info to them about material to be painted colour code and with a reference to the PIA site.
