Tire Monitoring System: Testing and Inspection
Workshop test (TPMS)
Checking the sensor
- Ignition on.
By performing this check routine, it is easily possible to confirm if there are problems with the system. The purpose of the test is to trigger the sensors in the wheels and to check that the vehicle receives the sensors' ID-number.
Carry out the following:
- Start the check routine for programming of sensor-ID by clicking on the symbol.
- Check in the driver information module (DIM) display for a message that the procedure is run is shown.
- Use special tool to activate one wheel sensor at a time.
- Check if the message in Driver information module (DIM) has disappeared.
Hint: If the special tool is not available, you can activate the tire pressure sensors by filling air in the tires.
Note! The diagnostics routine will be finished as soon as four sensor-IDs have been received. This means that ID-number from sensors on other vehicles also can be received and registered. Make sure that a similar test is not in progress in the immediate vicinity when the diagnostics routine is run. The test automatically times out after 15 minutes if the ID numbers from all four sensors are not received correctly.
Note! When a new tire pressure sensor is installed, it must be activated from its transport mode. The sensor can only be activated using the special tool: 951 2987 TPMS tool 951 2987 TPMS Tool
