Connecting the breakout box
- Ignition off
- Remove the Suspension Module (SUM).
Check the connectors of the control module. Check:
- that the male and female terminals are undamaged and properly attached (cannot be pressed in)
- that the wiring for the female terminals is securely connected
- In particular check those terminals that are relevant to the stored diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or symptom. See Signal specification Signal Specification, Suspension Module (SUM).
2-pin connector C2
Connect adapter 951 2888 16-pin AUD adapter 951 2888 16-Pin AUD Adapter to the control module connectors. Connect breakout box 951 1428 Breakout box 951 1428 Breakout Box to the adapter.
30-pin connector C1
Connect adapter 981 3194 Replaced by 9511495 981 3194 Replaced By 9511495 to the control module connectors. Connect breakout box 951 1428 Breakout box 951 1428 Breakout Box to the adapter.
Disconnect the breakout box in reverse order.
Hint: Control module terminals C2-#1 till C2-#2 correspond to #31-#32 on the breakout box and C1-#1 to C1-#30 correspond to #1-#30 on the breakout box.
The breakout box is designed to facilitate reading off the control module input and output signals when the control module is connected; and the cable and component resistance when the control module is disconnected. The use of a breakout box reduces the risk of accidental short-circuits and damage to the connector pins.
