Condition
Hint: For vehicles with automatic start/stop of engine, the output and torque of the starter motor is increased. In addition, the gear ratio is changed, which means that the starter motor runs at higher speeds. This can cause the starter motor for vehicles with automatic start/stop of engine to be perceived as more audible.
If the starter motor bearing or starter drive and drive unit are defective, noise may occur when a start is attempted.
Possible source
- Defective starter motor
- Defective starter collar or carrier.
