Description of Frozen Values, ECM

Description of frozen values

Explanation
Frozen values are parameter values that are stored when a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored.
Not all parameters can be read out for all diagnostic trouble codes. The parameter values can only be read if they can provide additional information on the prevailing conditions when the code was generated.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
State the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) the read values apply to.

Long-term fuel trimming active (Yes/No)
The value states whether long-term fuel trimming was active or not when the diagnostic trouble code was generated.

Calculated load (%)
The value indicates the engine load calculated by the Engine control module (ECM).

Engine coolant temperature (ECT) (°C)
The value indicates temperature of the coolant in the engine.

Front lambda control fast, bank 1 (%)
Fast control means continuous control during operation.

Hint: Total lambda control corresponds to the sum of slow and fast control.

Front lambda control slow, bank 1 (%)
Slow control means control during a longer period that considers aging and tolerances in components, etc.

Hint: Total lambda control corresponds to the sum of slow and fast control.

Fuel pressure (Pa)

The value indicates relative fuel pressure in the distribution pipe.
Normal value for absolute pressure is 480 ± 5 kPa at idle, neutral position, and warm engine. (Relative pressure = absolute pressure - atmospheric pressure).

Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) (Pa)
The value indicates pressure in the induction/inlet manifold.
Measurement range 0-5000 hPa.
Normal pressure (atmospheric pressure at sea level) approximately 1013 hPa with ignition on (open throttle) and approximately 420 ± 30 hPa when idling (intake air temperature approximately 20 °C).

Engine speed (rpm)
Measurement range 0-10400 rpm.
The value indicates engine speed (rpm).

Vehicle speed (via CAN) (km/h)
Measurement range 0 - 255 km/h.
The value indicates vehicle speed.
The Engine control module (ECM) receives information from Brake control module (BCM) and, on cars with automatic transmission, also from Transmission control module (TCM) via CAN.

Ignition advance (CA)
Measurement range -20 to +62 CA BTDC.
The value indicates current ignition angle.

Intake air temperature (IAT) (°C)
Measurement range -40 to +120 °C.
The value indicates the temperature of the air in the inlet manifold.

Mass air flow (g/s)
The value indicates the mass air flow that passes through the mass air flow sensor.

Throttle angle (%)
Measurement range 0 -100 %.
The engine control module (ECM) calculates the value from potentiometer 1 for the throttle position sensor. The value indicates the throttle opening. If a fault is detected in the throttle position sensor, potentiometer 1 by the engine control module (ECM), the value from the throttle position sensor, potentiometer 2 will be used to represent the throttle angle. This presumes that the function of throttle position sensor, potentiometer 2 is OK.
0 % = throttle shut.
100 % = throttle fully open. This corresponds to an opening angle of approximately 84 degrees.

Time since engine start (s)
The value indicates how long the engine has been running before the malfunction was detected and the diagnostic trouble code was stored.

Evaporative emission system (EVAP) valve (%)
Measurement range 0 -100 %.
The value indicates the PWM-signal from the engine control module (ECM) to the EVAP-valve.
0 % corresponds to closed valve, i.e. when there is no purging.

Fuel level (via CAN) (%)
The value indicates current fuel level in the tank.
Engine control module (ECM) receives the information from Central electronic module (CEM) via CAN.

Atmospheric pressure (Pa)
The value indicates atmospheric pressure at engine control module (ECM).
Normal value at 0 meters above sea level is approximately 101.3 kPa.

ECU power supply (V)
The value indicates voltage feed to the engine control module (ECM).

Load (%)
The value indicates current engine load.

Accelerator pedal position, PWM (%)
Measurement range 0 -100 %.
PWM signal from the accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor to the engine control module (ECM).
The value indicates the accelerator pedal's position.
Approximately 8 %= the accelerator pedal (AP) completely released.
Approximately 88 %= the accelerator pedal (AP) completely depressed.

Analog accelerator pedal (AP)(%)
Measurement range 0 -100 %.
Analog signal from the accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor to the engine control module (ECM).
The value indicates the accelerator pedal's position.
Approximately 8 %= the accelerator pedal (AP) completely released.
Approximately 88 %= the accelerator pedal (AP) completely depressed.

Throttle angle, desired value (%)
Measurement range 0 -100 %.
The value indicates the signal transmitted to the throttle unit from engine control module (ECM).
0 % = throttle shut.
100 % = throttle fully open. This corresponds to an opening angle of approximately 84 degrees.

Total mileage (km/miles)

The value indicates the vehicle's total travelled distance.
Engine control module (ECM) receives the information from Central electronic module (CEM) via CAN.

MECU power supply (V)
Measurement range: 0-63 V
Normal range: 12.0-14.5 V
The value indicates voltage feed to Central electronic module (CEM).
Engine control module (ECM) receives the information from Central electronic module (CEM) via CAN.

External temperature (°C)
Measurement range: -40 till +215 °C
The value indicates external temperature registered by Central electronic module (CEM).
Engine control module (ECM) receives the information from Central electronic module (CEM) via CAN.

Voltage feed sensors (V)
Normal value: 5 V
The value indicates voltage feed level out from Engine control module (ECM) to connected sensors.

Temperature (charge pressure sensor) (°C)
Measurement range: -40 to +130 °C.
The value denotes the air's temperature registered by the charge pressure senor mounted on the intercooler.

Charge air pressure (kPa)
Measurement range 20 to 300 kPa.
The value denotes the pressure in the intake manifold between the turbocharger and the throttle.
