Note! The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.
Preparatory work
Draining the air conditioning (A/C) system
Drain the refrigerant from the air conditioning (A/C) system. Refer to: Refrigerant, draining Refrigerant, Draining.
Removal
Removing the solenoid valve
Caution! Always ensure cleanliness when working with the solenoid valve and surrounding components.
Note! Position the compressor with the solenoid valve facing upwards to prevent leaking compressor oil.
Remove:
- the solenoid valve connector
- the 1x screw. Remove the electrical cable mounting for the solenoid valve. Note how the electrical cable was routed
- the snap ring.
Hint: Pry up the solenoid valve. Use a screwdriver (as illustrated).
Pull the solenoid valve straight up. Remove the solenoid valve.
Installation
Installing the solenoid valve
Hint: Lubricate the O-rings on the solenoid valve. Use compressor oil.
Install:
- the solenoid valve by twisting backwards and forwards, under light pressure, until it bottoms enough for the groove for the snap ring to be visible.
- the snap ring
- the line to the solenoid valve in its mounting as noted. Torque: M6, 10 Nm
- the connector
Finishing
Vacuum pump the A/C system. Refer to: Vacuum pumping Vacuum Pumping.
Fill the A/C system with refrigerant Refer to: Refrigerant, filling Refrigerant, Filling.
Leak-trace the air conditioning system. Refer to: Leak detection, tracer agent Leak Detection, Tracer Agent
