Electric engine heater, 110 V, 5-cyl
INTRODUCTION
- Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.
- Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimize the risk of something breaking during installation.
- Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.
- Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.
- In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.

- Remove the screws.
- Remove the screws.
- Remove the nuts.
- Remove the clips.
- Remove the air baffle.
- Remove the clips.
- Unplug the connector.
Note! This step is easier with two people.

- Take the front intake components from the kit and assemble them.
- File out to make room for the connector.
- Pull through the cable.
- Position the contact and tighten using a screw, washer and spacer.
- Clamp the cable by the existing cables in the position shown.
- Position the bumper cover for reinstallation. Insert the line between the washer reservoir and the radiator bracket.
Note! This step is easier with two people.
- Plug in the connector.
- Install the clip/clamp in the flange in the upper edge of the subframe and clamp the line.
- Drain the coolant.
- Tighten the cock after draining the coolant.
- Detach the hose clip on the left oil cooler hose and remove it. It will not be refitted. Some coolant will run out.
- Take a bracket, two bolts and washers from the kit. Fasten the bracket in the existing holes on the left side of the oil cooler.
Note! The screws are self tapping. Ensure that the screws are not inserted crookedly. The screw heads should be flat against the surface.
- Take the heater, rubberized clamp and bolt from the kit. Fasten the heater with the clamp in the lower hole in the bracket. The hose connections on the heater should point straight backwards.
- Take the long hose and two hose clips from the kit.
- Connect the hose between the radiator pipe and the upper heater port.
- Take the remaining hose and two hose clips from the kit.
- Connect the hose between the oil cooler and the lower heater port.
- Tighten the clamps securely.

- Press the panel clips into the upper edge of the subframe and install the line.
- Continue to pull the cable up around the subframe's right-hand mounting between the power steering pump and body.
- Install the clamp in the flange in the upper edge of the subframe and clamp the line.
- Clamp the line with a double cable tie at the servo pipe.
- Clamp the line with with the cable tie at the bracket for the servo pipe and with panel clips in the flange for the subframe.
- Thread the heat shield into place.
- Lubricate the O-ring on the connector for the heater's cable with low temperature grease P/N 1161427.
Note! Do not get any grease on the surfaces of the connector.
- Connect the switch for the heater and press a locking sleeve over the joint.
- Pull the heat shield over so that it covers the whole switch and clamp with the grey cable tie.
- Clamp the line at the pipe for the turbocharger.
- Fill with coolant, run the engine to operating temperature.
- Bleed the cooling system and check that there is no leakage.
- Post-fill the cooling system if necessary.
