Checking Wireless Headsets, Headrest Mounted Systems For Rear Seat Entertainment
Checking wireless headsets, headrest mounted systems for rear seat entertainment
Fault-tracing information
Note! Only applies to headrest mounted systems for rear seat entertainment.
The wireless headsets can be used for both display screens. The sound to the headsets is transferred from the display screens, via infrared signals (IR), to the headsets in two channel stereo format. If the headsets do not function the fault could be due to:
- The headsets (Infra-red receiver in the headsets)
- Headset batteries discharged.
- Blocked path for infrared signals to the headsets.
- Damaged IR-transmitter/head rest.
Note! In order for sound from the system for rear seat entertainment to be heard in the headsets, the system for rear seat entertainment must be on and work faultlessly.

Checking the headsets
Hint: To obtain a certain audio source - insert a CD in the DVD-player, press the Play button, and select DVD as source on the screen where troubleshooting is to be performed.
Checking the settings
Check that the volume on each headset is turned down.
Check that the sound source for the selected headset channel and the headsets are on. The two DVD players are coded as a DRIVER and a PASSENGER.
Checking the infra-red transmitter/head restraint and infra-red receiver/headsets
Check that the infra-red transmitter/head restraint is not obstructed. In certain cases moisture can impair infra-red signal reception.
Also check that the receiver in the headsets is not obstructed.
Check that the IR-diodes at the top of the screen light up dimly when the system is on and that there is a sound source. If the IR-diodes are not lit up, the system will play some form of media, the circuit board in the head restraint is probably damaged.
Checking the headsets
Check the headset batteries.
Check to see if the other headset functions. If this is the case the headsets are defective.
Remedy as necessary.
