Checking DVD players and screens, headrest mounted systems for rear seat entertainment
Fault-tracing information
Note! Only applies to headrest mounted systems for rear seat entertainment.
If the system cannot be turned on and no screen is lit up and the malfunction cannot be connected to a special function, e.g., that the AUX-input is used, the cause of the malfunction may be:
- Ignition not in position 2.
- Low battery
- Blown fuse.
- Power supply missing
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals.
If the DVD player does not work but other audio/picture sources work, the problem may be due to:
- The DVD player is not selected as the media source.
- Damaged DVD-disc.
No or poor on-screen image. This may be because:
- Different region codes on DVD player and DVD.
- The disc has an unknown format.
- Damaged DVD-disc.
- Incorrect media source selected.
If the DVD player does not eject the disc, the fault is probably:
- The system is switched off.
- Damaged DVD-disc.

Checking the power supply
Check the fuse for the circuit. The fuse is located on the cable harness and is installed behind the side panel in the tunnel by the front 12 V socket.
Check the cable for the supply voltage for breakage and a short-circuit to ground. Check the ground cable for open circuit or short-circuiting to voltage. The voltage should be approx. the same as the battery voltage.
Check the connectors for contact resistance and oxidation.
Remedy as necessary.
