Control module

Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) is located under the left front seat. Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) features three connections (four connections on the Japanese market) (not S60 (11-)/V60).
A connection for the rear video camera, a video output to High Level Display Front (HLDF) for XC60 (before structure week 201046), and for screen in Infotainment control module (ICM) for S60 (11-), V60 and XC60 (XC60 after structure week 201046),a connection for ground, voltage feed and CAN-signals as well as, on the Japanese market, a connection for the side view camera (not S60 (11-)/V60).
The Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) uses the connection for the rear camera to send control signals to the camera via an internal communication interface similar to LIN-protocol, receive LVDS video signals, and to supply the camera with power.
The video output is used to transmit the NTSC-video composite signal to High Level Display Front (HLDF) for XC60 (before structure week 201046) and to screen on Infotainment control module (ICM) for S60 (11-), V60 and XC60 (XC60 after structure week 201046).
The CAN terminal is used to receive necessary signals from:
- steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS)
- central electronic module (CEM)
- Infotainment control module (ICM)
- climate control module (CCM) (not S60 (11-), V60 and XC60 (XC60 from structure week 201046))
- Parking Assistance Module (PAM)
- trailer module (TRM)
- gearbox control module (TCM)
- brake control module (BCM).
XC60 on the Japanese market also features a side view camera to meet Japanese legal requirements. Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) uses the connection for the side-view camera to receive the analogue video signal and to supply the camera with power.
Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) is activated in ignition position II when reverse gear is engaged (on the condition that the parking camera is activated in the menu). When Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) is active, the camera(s) is also active.

Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) switches off:
- in ignition positions greater than II
- if ignition position changes to 0 or I
- when reverse gear is disengaged for more than 5 seconds (does not apply to S60, V60 and XC60 (XC60 from structure week201046) if the parking camera has been activated via the button in Climate control module (CCM).
For Parking Assistance Camera (PAC), the rear camera can be set if bars for display and marking of objects in the background as well as help lines are to be shown. Guidelines can be activated separately. Bars for display and marking of objects in the background require that help lines are activated.
If a trailer is connected electrically to the vehicle, neither bars nor guidelines will appear.

High Level Display Front (HLDF) (only XC60 before structure week 201046)
The following applies to all markets, except Japan:
If the Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) is activated, an image of what is behind the vehicle is shown. Otherwise, the monitor displays navigation information or is turned off.
The following applies to the Japanese market:
In the menu the side-view camera can be set for automatic activation at each new driving cycle. The side-view camera is set as default from factory for automatic activation at each new driving cycle. It is deactivated when the vehicle reaches a forward speed above 12 km/h, when you engage reverse gear or press the switch for the parking camera.
Otherwise, the monitor displays navigation information or is turned off.
For vehicles with side view camera the switch for the parking camera is located in the bottom row on the comfort panel.
The High Level Display Front (HLDF) is controlled by the Infotainment control module (ICM) and the image is controlled by the Parking Assistance Camera (PAC).
When the navigation system is not active the following applies:
- Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) shows a picture when reverse is activated in ignition position II (if the vehicle is for the Japanese market, in the menu it is possible to choose to show the side-view camera first).
- When reverse is disengaged, the display screen is up displaying images for 5 seconds. If the vehicle speed is greater than 10 km/h during these 5 seconds, the screen will turn off. If the navigation system is activated during these 5 seconds, these images are displayed instead.
When the navigation system is active the following applies.
- The Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) displays images when reverse gear is activated in ignition position II.
- When reverse gear is disengaged, the parking camera image is displayed for 5 seconds. If the vehicle speed is greater than 10 km/h during these 5 seconds, images from the navigation system are displayed. If the switch for activating the navigation system is pressed during these 5 seconds, the navigation system image is displayed instead.
For more detailed information on High Level Display Front (HLDF), see Design and Function.

Infotainment control module (ICM) (only S60 (11-), V60 and XC60 (XC60 from structure week 201046))

If Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) is activated a picture is shown of what is behind the vehicle. If the side-view camera is active (only XC60 Japanese market) a picture is shown of what is along the left side of the vehicle.
For more information about the Infotainment control module (ICM), see: Design and Function - Infotainment control module (ICM).

Camera

The rear camera is located in the tailgate, slightly to the right of the opening handle.
After the installation of the camera, it must be set so that the guidelines appear in the correct position on the monitor. This is done with a check procedure in Volvo's diagnostic tool.
By activating the check procedure, the camera's view appears on the monitor with a semi transparent pattern that must align with the contours of the bumper, at the lower edge of the image.
The side-view camera (only XC60 Japanese market) is located in the left rear-view mirror. The side-view camera is only activated when Parking Assistance Camera (PAC) is activated.
