Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information BCM-U042864

Condition
The Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) transmits information on the controller area network (CAN), which the other systems can use. The Brake control module (BCM) retrieves the information that can then be used in different brake functions. A reference value is calculated from the signals from the wheel sensors, yaw rate sensor and lateral accelerometer.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The signal from the Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) during comparison does not correspond with the calculated value.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Speed continually above 10 km/h.
- Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) initiated (steering wheel turned more than 10° in any direction).

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- Stability control (SC) blocked.
- Traction control (TC) blocked.
- Active yaw control (AYC) is blocked.

Hint: Brake system, abbreviations Brake System, Abbreviations

Possible source
- Incorrect front wheel alignment.
- Damaged steering wheel angle sensor.

Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.
