Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information CEM-U040086
Condition
The Central electronic module (CEM) uses different input signals for information about the vehicle's inclination regarding load, acceleration and braking. On vehicles with Four-C (Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept) the Suspension module (SUM) transmits the necessary information. On vehicles without Four-C (Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept) the position sensors on the rear wheel suspension respectively front wheel suspension transmit the necessary information.
The diagnostic trouble code is stored if the control module detects:
For vehicles with Four-C:
- Incorrect or no communication with the Suspension module (SUM).
For vehicles without Four-C:
- Incorrect signal from one of the position sensors.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition on or engine running.
- Battery voltage between 9 - 16 V.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- Shortest headlamp range will be used.
- Side control freezes straight ahead.
Possible source
For vehicles with Four-C:
- Look for fault cause in the transmitting Suspension module (SUM).
For vehicles without Four-C:
- Fault trace stored DTC for front or rear position sensor.
Fault symptom[s]
- Headlights/Vertical adjustment not influenced by steering wheel
- Headlights/Headlight aim is off
- Text window and warning symbol/Text message
