Fault-Tracing Information
Fault-tracing
Checking communication
Signals from the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) are used by the Brake control module (BCM) and Forward Sensing Module (FSM). If the signals are missing, the DTC is stored in the respective control module. Check the wiring for the power supply to the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Note! The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) has two power inputs; one directly supplying from the ignition on relay in the integrated relay / fusebox in the engine compartment and one supplying via the central electronic module (CEM).
Check the ground connection between the metal plate on the Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and the ground terminal in the body. Check the connectors for loose connections, damaged or bent terminal pins and oxidation.
All control modules do not communicate with each other on sensor-CAN. There are control modules on sensor-CAN that do not send out any signals on the network, e.g. Brake control module (BCM) and therefore other control modules do not store DTCs for "signal missing" for those control modules. There are also control modules on sensor-CAN that do not receive any signals on the network, e.g. Closing velocity module (CVM) and therefore no DTCs for "signal missing" are stored in these control modules.
Fault-tracing information
The list below shows which DTCs can be stored on the local network sensor CAN (reservation for future changes/updates). The table indicates where on the local network sensor CAN there may be a fault.
Note! More information is available in Design and function.
Remedy as necessary.
