Fault-Tracing Information
Fault-tracing
Checking communication
Signals from the Forward Sensing Module (FSM) are used by the Brake control module (BCM). If the signals are missing, DTC BCM-U010400 is stored in the Brake control module (BCM). A diagnostic trouble code for CAN communication can also be generated in the Central Electronic Module (CEM). In some instances, the diagnostic trouble code is generated in other affected control modules. This diagnostic trouble code shall not be cleared until the trouble code in the central electronic module (CEM) and in other affected control modules has been remedied and cleared. Therefore, first read the diagnostic trouble codes in the Central Electronic Module (CEM) and other affected control modules, perform fault tracing and remedy as necessary. If no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored, fault-trace the controller area network (CAN) as follows. This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can then be erased. Also check that the cables do not lie too close to a source of disturbance, such as cellular phones etc.
All control modules do not communicate with each other on sensor-CAN. There are control modules on sensor-CAN that do not send out any signals on the network, e.g. Brake control module (BCM) and therefore other control modules do not store DTCs for "signal missing" for those control modules. There are also control modules on sensor-CAN that do not receive any signals on the network, e.g. Closing velocity module (CVM) and therefore no DTCs for "signal missing" are stored in these control modules.
Fault-tracing information
The list below shows which DTCs can be stored on the local network sensor CAN (reservation for future changes/updates). The table indicates where on the local network sensor CAN there may be a fault.
Note! More information is available in Design and function.
Remedy as necessary.
