Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information FSM-U002888

Condition
The control modules in the vehicle send and receive information continuously on the vehicle's controller area network (CAN).
The Supplemental restraint system module (SRS) is the main system in a local network, sensor-CAN, that both transmits and receives information via a standardized serial communication protocol - CAN (Controller Area Network). The local network can have several different control modules connected (market dependent).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- Faulty messages are transmitted or received between Forward Sensing Module (FSM) and Supplemental restraint system module (SRS).

Note! This fault code is set regardless of on which network the problem is located.

The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition on.
- Control module supplied with power.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- The control module shuts off communication with the local network.

Hint: The control module is off until the power supply has been broken. When the power supply is connected the control module will make a new attempt to communicate.

Possible source
- Short-circuiting to battery.
- Ground (GND) short
- Fault-trace in transmitting control module.

Fault symptom[s]
- Cruise control/Does not engage
- Warning lights and chimes/Front monitoring/Active safety indication/no indication
- Text window and warning symbol/Text message
