Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-P212038
Condition
The engine control module (ECM) checks the pulse width modulation (PWM) signal and the analog signal from the accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor. The analog signal is directly connected to the Central electronic module (CEM) and the signal is transmitted via CAN communication to the Engine control module (ECM). The pulse width modulation (PWM) signal is directly connected to the engine control module (ECM).
The PWM signal is used to determine the current accelerator pedal position in a fault free system.
The engine control module (ECM) checks the PWM signal.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- Incorrect frequency on the PWM signal.
- Incorrect value lasts longer than 16 seconds.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- The control module uses analog signals (via CAN).
- The control module uses the accelerator pedal position corresponding to the released position when the brake pedal is depressed at the same time.
Possible source
- Loose connections or contact resistance in the terminals on the pulse width modulation (PWM) signal cable.
- Interference on the pulse width modulation (PWM) signal cable.
- Damaged accelerator pedal (AP) position sensor.
