Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information TCM-P074468

Condition

Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status is an event controlled diagnostic trouble code (DTC). An event controlled diagnostic trouble code (DTC) does not mean that there is a fault in the control module when it is active, but is designed as information.

The transmission control module (TCM) checks the function of the lock-up solenoid by comparing the speed signal from the transmission speed sensor with the speed (rpm) signal from the transmission speed (rpm) sensor. The signals must then "show" the same calculated speed (rpm). The transmission control module (TCM) also compares the speed from the transmission speed sensor with the engine speed (RPM). The RPM should then be greater or less than the transmission output RPM or speed depending on the gear selected.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The engine has stopped suddenly.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Engine running.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- The lock-up function is blocked until the Transmission control module (TCM) has registered there are no longer any electrical faults stored for the function.

Possible source
- The vehicle has rolled backwards at the same time as lever position D has been selected.
- Engine stopped due to lack of gasoline.
- Mechanical fault in engine.

Fault symptom[s]
- Driving/Engine stalls/During deceleration
- Automatic transmission/Lockup does not work
