Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information TCM-P074200

Condition
The transmission control module (TCM) checks the function of the lock-up solenoid by comparing the speed signal from the transmission speed sensor with the speed (rpm) signal from the transmission speed (rpm) sensor. The signals must then show the same calculated speed (rpm). The transmission control module (TCM) also compares the speed from the transmission speed sensor with the engine speed (RPM). The RPM should then be greater or less than the transmission output RPM or speed depending on the gear selected.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- Lock-up function is constantly engaged or if the transmission jerks at lock-up.
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Normal driving.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- Adaptation function is blocked.
- The lock-up function is blocked.

Hint: In the event of a fault the engine dies the first time when braking to 0 km/h. Thereafter, the Transmission control module (TCM) goes into a mode to prevent engine stalling.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in the terminals.
- Open-circuit in the cable for the control signal or signal ground.
- Solenoid not working.
- Internal fault in the transmission control module (TCM).

Fault symptom[s]
- Warning lights and chimes/Malfunction Indicator Light ("Check engine" light) indication/no indication
- Automatic transmission/Shifts rough or jerky/Unsure when/at all times
- Driving/Engine stalls/During deceleration
- Text window and warning symbol/Yellow symbol and text message
