Fault-tracing

Checking the component and wiring

- Ignition off.
- Remove the system relay.
Check the relay for short-circuiting between #30(3) and #86(1).

Hint: When the relay is not drawn, there shall be open circuit between the system relay's #30(3) and #86(1). If not open circuit, the relay is damaged.

Check the signal cable between the system relay's socket #85(2) and Engine Control Module (ECM) #B16 (#C16) for short-circuiting to ground.

Hint: The system relay winding #86(1) is connected to kl:30 and #85(2) is connected to Engine Control Module (ECM) #B16 (#C16) and active low.

Remedy as necessary.

Other information
- Connecting the breakout box, B6304T4 Breakout Box Connection, Engine Control Module (ECM)
- Signal specification, B6304T4 Signal Specification, Engine Control Module (ECM)

Has the fault been remedied?

Yes - Verification

No - Checking the component and wiring

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the component and wiring

Check if there is voltage in the system relay's socket #87(5). System relay's socket #87(5) should not be voltage fed.
If there is voltage on the system relay's socket #87(5), check connections and branchings from the socket's #87(5) (see wiring diagram) for short-circuiting to voltage.

Hint: The system relay #30(3) is connected to kl:30 and #87(5) is the output.

Remedy as necessary.

Other information

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.

- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
- Loosen the connector for the mass air flow sensor. Check the voltage on the mass air flow sensor's connector #1. The voltage must be approximately battery voltage.
- Ignition off.
Check the system relay when it releases (approx. 2-10 min after ignition off).
Check the voltage on the mass air flow sensor's connector #1. There shall be no voltage when the system relay is not drawn.
