Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-P042268
Condition
Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) status is an event controlled diagnostic trouble code (DTC). An event controlled diagnostic trouble code (DTC) does not mean that there is a fault in the control module when it is active, but is designed as information.
Engine Control Module (ECM) checks the efficiency of catalytic converter (bank 1) by switching between rich and lean fuel/air mixture. When the change-over is made, the signal from the rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) is checked and the time taken for the probe to switch.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- The signal from the rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) changes too quickly and this is interpreted as poor catalytic converter efficiency.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when:
- Idling with hot engine. The vehicle must have been in motion before idling.

Possible source
- This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not caused by a fault that needs to be remedied.
