Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-P033600

Condition

The signal sent by the engine speed sensor to the engine control module (ECM) provides information on the number of teeth in the flywheel/number of holes in the carrier plate that has passed the engine speed sensor. The control module uses the signal to calculate engine speed. The diagnostic code is generated if via the engine speed sensor signal the control module detects an incorrect number of teeth on the flywheel/holes in the carrier plate for a certain number of crankshaft revolutions.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed by the control module when engine speed exceeds 1000 rpm.

Substitute value
- Signal from the camshaft position sensor.

Possible source
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the engine speed sensor connector.
- Engine speed (RPM) sensor fitted incorrectly.
- Damage to flywheel/carrier plate.
- Damaged engine speed (RPM) sensor

Fault symptom[s]
- Nothing.
