Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information BCM-C100086
Condition
The control modules transmit and receive information via a standardized serial communication method - CAN (Control Area Network). The control modules transmit information on the controller area network (CAN), which other systems can use. The Brake control module (BCM) retrieves the information that can then be used in different brake functions. The Brake control module (BCM) checks that the communication is correct via an internal diagnostic test mode (DTM).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- Information sent on CAN missing from Central electronic module (CEM), Engine control module (ECM), or Transmission control module (TCM).
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Ignition switch position II.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.
Substitute value
- The Hill descent control (HDC) function is blocked.

Possible source
- Disruption or intermittent open-circuit on the Control area network (CAN).
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals or connections.
- Fault-trace the central electronic module (CEM).
- Locate the cause of the fault in the engine control module (ECM).
- Trace the cause of the fault in the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.
Fault symptom[s]
- Hill descent control/Does not work
