Condition




The engine control module (ECM) regulates the starter motor via the starter relay and checks its function. The diagnostic trouble code is generated if the control module detects that the start signal from the ignition switch is lost when engine speed exceeds a certain value and no vehicle speed has been registered or if the control module detects a start signal from the ignition switch during driving conditions when there should not be a start signal.

- The signal cable from the ignition switch is short-circuited to ground.
- Open-circuit on the signal cable from the ignition switch.
- Damaged starter relay.
