Parameters, status

General
Certain values are not the same as those contained in the signal specification. This is because read off values are calculated and filtered by the transmission control module (TCM). In certain cases the engine must be running to obtain the relevant values.

Kickdown, status
The value indicates the status of the kickdown function. Kickdown is activated if the limit for the kickdown function in the accelerator pedal (AP) is passed (approximately 87 %). During rapid acceleration, with the accelerator pedal (AP) depressed to approximately 87 %, the transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal about kickdown.
Not active = Kickdown is not activated.
Active = Kickdown is activated.

Stop (brake) light switch, status
The value indicates the status of the stop lamp switch. The engine control module (ECM) sends a signal on the controller area network (CAN) about the position of the stop lamp switch: activated or not activated. The transmission control module (TCM) uses the signal for the internal gear functions and diagnosing the transmission.
Not active = Stop lamp switch off.
Active = Stop lamp switch on.

Lock-up function according to solenoids
The value indicates the status of the lock-up function according to how the solenoids are controlled.
No lock-up.
Slipping lock-up.
Locked lock-up (engaged).

Gear-shift position sensor, position
The value indicates the position of the gear selector sensor.
The positions P/R/N/D can be displayed.

Hint: Position D is indicated in both D position and Geartronic position.

Geartronic status
The value indicates whether Geartronic is selected or not. The signal from the gear selector module (GSM) to the transmission control module (TCM).
Not active = The gear selector in position P/R/N/D.
Active = The gear selector in position Geartronic.

Geartronic, shift up (+)
The value indicates which function the gear selector module (GSM) transmits to the transmission control module (TCM).
No = No shift up request.
Yes = Shift up request.

Geartronic, shift down (-)
The value indicates which function the gear selector module (GSM) transmits to the transmission control module (TCM).
No = No shift down request.
Yes = Shift down request.

Gear selector, starting position
The value indicates the calculated position of the gear position sensor for allowing the engine to start. Starting is allowed in positions P and N.
The positions P/R/N/D can be displayed.

Hint: Position D is indicated in both D position and Geartronic position.

Gear selector, diagnostic
The value indicates the calculated position of the gear position sensor for diagnosing a correct gear position.
The positions P/R/N/D/Undefined R position/Undefined D position can be indicated.

Hint: Position D is indicated in both D position and Geartronic position.

Gear selector inhibitor status request
The value indicates the status of the gear selector inhibitor (shift-lock) in the gear selector assembly. The transmission control module (TCM) controls a solenoid in the gear selector assembly that locks the gear selector.
Active = The solenoid locks the gear selector.
Not active = The solenoid allows the gear selector to be moved.

Start inhibitor status request
The value indicates the status of the start inhibitor. The transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal from the gear selector module (GSM) indicating the present position of the gear selector. If the gear selector is in a position other than P or N, the engine is not permitted to start as the transmission control module (TCM) activates the start inhibitor relay.
Start permitted.
Start not permitted.

Winter program status
The value indicates the shifting program that the transmission control module (TCM) has selected. The control module has selected the program based on the signal from the mode selector W (winter mode). The signal from the gear selector module (GSM) to the transmission control module (TCM).
Active = Winter mode engaged.
Not active = Winter mode disengaged.

Gear according to solenoids
The value indicates which gear is selected according to the position of the solenoids.
- R (Back-up gear)
- Gear 1
- Gear 2
- Gear 3
- Gear 4
- Gear 5.

Shift solenoids S1, S2, S3, S4, S5
The value indicates the status of the solenoid.
OFF = The solenoid is not activated
ON = The solenoid is activated

Request to light the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)
The value indicates if and in what way the transmission control module (TCM) request to light the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL).
No = No request.
Yes (continuous) = Request to light the lamp continuously.
Yes (flashing) = Request for flashing lamp.

Requested text message
The value indicates whether the transmission control module (TCM) requests for a text message to be displayed in the driver information module (DIM).
No = No request.
Yes = Request to display message.

Engine running
The value indicates the status of the engine. The transmission control module (TCM) obtains the value via the control area network (CAN) from the central electronic module (CEM).
Yes = Engine running.
No = Engine switched off.

Parameters, value

Engine speed (RPM)
The value indicates the engine speed (RPM). The transmission control module (TCM) obtains the value via the controller area network (CAN) from the engine control module (ECM), where the transmission control module (TCM) compares the signal with its own speed sensor signal.
Measurement range: 0 - 8191 rpm.
Idling speed: 850 rpm.

Engine torque
The value indicates the present engine torque. The transmission control module (TCM) obtains the value via the controller area network (CAN) from the engine control module (ECM).
Measurement range: -512 - +511 Nm.

Calculated torque to transmission
The value indicates the engine torque which the transmission control module (TCM) calculates that the transmission is receiving from the engine.
Measurement range: -512 - +511 Nm.

Accelerator pedal (AP) position
The value indicates the position of the accelerator pedal (AP). The transmission control module (TCM) obtains the value via the controller area network (CAN) from the engine control module (ECM). The transmission control module (TCM) uses the signal to regulate the system pressure in the transmission.
Measurement range: 0 - 100%.
>87% = kickdown.

Engine coolant temperature (ECT)
The value indicates the engine coolant temperature. The transmission control module (TCM) obtains the value via the controller area network (CAN) from the engine control module (ECM), where the transmission control module (TCM) uses the signal to control lock-up.
Measurement range: -60 - +195°C

Oil temperature
The value indicates the oil temperature in the transmission. The transmission control module (TCM) calculates the temperature from the oil temperature sensor signal.
Measurement range: -100 - +200°C

Transmission oil temperature at start
The value indicates the temperature of the oil in the transmission when the engine was started in the present operating cycle.
Measurement range: -100 - + 200°C

Oil temperature within the range 100 - 110°C/110 - 120°C/120 - 130°C/130 - 140°C/140 - 150°C/150°C-
The value indicates the total time that the oil temperature was within the relevant temperature range.
The time is indicated in hours.
Measurement range: 0 - 29826 h.

Vehicle speed transmission control module (TCM)
The value displays the vehicle speed. The transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal from the transmission speed sensor which is affected by a toothed pulse wheel and calculates the vehicle speed based on the signal. The speed sensor is an "active" sensor. The signal oscillates between a peak and a trough value. The transmission control module (TCM) calculates the speed which is directly proportional to the frequency.
Measurement range: 0 - 655 km/h.

Speed signal from the brake control module (BCM)
The value indicates the output speed. The transmission control module (TCM) obtains the value via the controller area network (CAN) from the brake control module (BCM), where the transmission control module (TCM) compares the signal with the signal from the transmission output speed sensor.
Measurement range: 0 - 320 km/h.

Transmission input speed sensor
The value indicates the input speed. The speed can be generated with the engine idling and the gear selector in P/N position. If the gear selector is in any other position, a gear is engaged and the transmission input shaft is connected to the output shaft and an RPM will not be indicated until the car is driven. Depending on slippage in the torque converter the transmission speed and the engine speed will differ when the lock-up function is not engaged. With lock-up engaged the transmission speed should be the same as engine speed (RPM).
Measurement range: 0 - 10000 rpm.

Transmission output speed sensor
The value indicates the output speed. The transmission control module (TCM) receives a signal from the transmission speed sensor which is affected by a toothed pulse wheel on the output shaft. The value can be compared with the calculated speed from the brake control module (BCM).
Measurement range: 0 - 10 000 rpm.

Output speed from the brake control module (BCM)
The value indicates the output speed. The transmission control module (TCM) calculates the speed signal from the brake control module (BCM) into a speed. This value can be compared with the speed from the transmission speed sensor.
Measurement range: 0-10,000 rpm.

Linear pressure solenoid SLS, current
The value indicates the amperage passing through the solenoid circuit. A lower amperage gives a higher reference pressure, which gives a higher line pressure.
Measurement range: 0 - 1000 mA.

Linear pressure solenoid SLS, requested current
Indicates the requested amperage from the transmission control module (TCM) to the solenoid. The value can be used to compare with the value read off in the circuit.
Measurement range: 0 - 1000 mA.

Lock-up solenoid SLU, current
The value indicates the amperage passing through the solenoid circuit. A lower amperage gives a higher reference pressure, which gives a higher line pressure.
Measurement range: 0 - 1000 mA.

Lock-up solenoid SLU, requested current
Indicates the requested amperage from the transmission control module (TCM) to the solenoid. The value can be used to compare with the value read off in the circuit.
Measurement range: 0 - 1000 mA.

Linear pressure solenoid SLT, current
The value indicates the amperage passing through the solenoid circuit. A lower amperage gives a higher reference pressure, which gives a higher line pressure. Solenoid control is directly dependent on the accelerator pedal (AP) signal. The higher the signal from the accelerator pedal (AP) the lower the amperage through the solenoid and therefore the higher the line pressure.
Measurement range: 0 - 1000 mA.
Normal value at released accelerator pedal (AP): approximately 1000 mA.

Linear pressure solenoid SLT, requested current
Indicates the requested amperage from the transmission control module (TCM) to the solenoid. The value can be used to compare with the value read off in the circuit.
Measurement range: 0 - 1000 mA.

Control module power supply
The value indicates battery voltage at the transmission control module (TCM).
Measurement range: 0.0 -25.5 V

Relevant gear ratio
The value indicates the transmission gear ratio. The transmission control module (TCM) uses the input and output speeds to calculate the gear ratio. For the correct gear ratio, see the table below:






Anticipated gear ratio
The value indicates the gear ratio anticipated by the transmission control module (TCM). Compare the values with the " Gear ratio" table.

Passenger compartment temperature
The value indicates the passenger compartment temperature. The transmission control module (TCM) obtains the value via the controller area network (CAN) from the central electronic module (CEM).
Measurement range: -60 to +195°C.
If the temperature +194°C or +195°C is displayed, the value from the controller area network (CAN) is faulty according to the transmission control module (TCM).

Outside temperature
The value indicates the outside temperature. The transmission control module (TCM) obtains the value via the controller area network (CAN) from the central electronic module (CEM).
Measurement range: -128 to +127°C.
If the temperature +126°C or +127°C is displayed, the value from the controller area network (CAN) is faulty according to the transmission control module (TCM).

Battery voltage, central electronic module (CEM)
The value indicates the battery voltage at the central electronic module (CEM). The accessory electronic module (AEM) obtains the value via the control area network (CAN) from the central electronic module (CEM).
Measurement range: 5 - 38 V.
Normal value when the generator (GEN) is charging: 13.0 - 14.5 V.
If the voltage 36.75 V or 36.875 V is displayed, the value from the control area network (CAN) is faulty according to the transmission control module (TCM).

Mileage
The value indicates the mileage. The transmission control module (TCM) obtains the value via the controller area network (CAN) from the central electronic module (CEM).
Measurement range: 0 - 1,048,575 km.
If the mileage 16,777,214 km or 16,777,215 km is displayed, the value from the controller area network (CAN) is faulty according to the transmission control module (TCM).
