Preparatory work
Remove the shock absorber. See: Rear Shock Absorber Rear Shock Absorber.
Removal
Removing the shock absorber bearing
Applies to standard shock absorbers:
Remove:
- 1 nut. Use: 999 7105 Socket 999 7105 Socket and: 999 7106 Spanner 999 7106 Spanner
- the support plate
- the bump stop and the dust boot.
Applies only to Nivomat shock absorbers:
Remove:
- 1 nut. Use: 999 5500 SOCKET UPPER NUT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER 999 5500 Socket Upper Nut Rear Shock Absorber and torx socket
- the support plate
- the bump stop and the dust boot.
Checking components
Check the bump stop and dust boot for damage. Replace if necessary.
Installation
Installing the shock absorber bearing
Applies to standard shock absorbers:
Install:
- the bump stop and the dust boot
- the support plate
- 1 nut. Use: 999 7105 Socket 999 7105 Socket and: 999 7106 Spanner 999 7106 Spanner. Tighten. See: Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications.
Applies only to Nivomat shock absorbers:
Install:
- the bump stop and the dust boot
- the support plate
- 1 nut. Use: 999 5500 SOCKET UPPER NUT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER 999 5500 Socket Upper Nut Rear Shock Absorber. Tighten. See: Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications.
Finishing
Install the shock absorber. See: Rear Shock Absorber Rear Shock Absorber.
