Removal
Removing components
Remove:
- the front seat as described in Front seat Front Seat
- the side panel as described in Side panel front seat Side Panel Front Seat.
Detach the belt buckle as described in Front safety belt buckle Front Safety Belt Buckle.
Detach the backrest upholstery at the bottom edge. See: Front seat backrest Front Seat Backrest.
Remove the screw of the panel.
Use a hook to lift the spring from the stop.
Hint: Use: 951 2943 L-hook 951 2943 L-Hook.
Remove the 4 M10 screws.
Lay down the backrest cushion on the seat cushion.
Removing the whiplash unit
Pull up the whiplash unit.
Remove:
- the star washer
- the spring
- the lock nut (for tightening torque, see Tightening torque, B5254T7 [1][2]Body and Frame )
- the shaft.
Open the whiplash unit.
Unhook the whiplash element.
Note! Note the position of the whiplash element and bushing. It is imperative that they are installed correctly.
Replacing components
Replace:
- the whiplash element
- the O-ring
- the rubber bushing
- the lock nut
- the shaft
- the star washer
- the spring
Installation

Install in the reverse order.
