Doors: Testing and Inspection
Information and verification, doors
Symptom and function description
The power windows are operated using the switches in the doors.
The control panel in the driver's door manages the electric window lifts on all doors, the child safety catches in the rear doors (only applies to S40/V50) and the central lock.
The control panel in the passenger door manages the functions in the passenger doors and the central locking.
The control panels in the rear doors manage the window lift in each rear door (only applies to S40/V50).
Power windows work in ignition positions I and II. After driving and after the ignition key has been removed, the windows can still be opened or closed, as long as none of the front doors is open.
Using the control panel for the central locking at the door opening handle, all doors and the boot lid can be locked or unlocked at the same time.
Child lock can be activated in ignition positions I and II by pressing the button in the control panel.
When the LED in the button comes on, the rear power windows and rear doors are locked. A message also appears in the combined instrument panel when the child lock switch is activated.
When the child lock switch is activated, the rear doors cannot be opened from the inside and the power windows can only be operated from the control panel in the driver' s door.
