DESCRIPTION:
Customers may report that the RTI (Road and traffic information) Display has an uneven movement (hesitant/shaking) up- or downward, or not moving at all. On analyzed parts, removed for not moving at all, broken plastic gears were found. The root cause of this concern is an interference condition between the cover of the RTI display and the loudspeaker grille.
PRODUCT MODIFICATION:
The cutout profile in the loudspeaker grille has been modified from structure week 200605 to assure sufficient play around the display cover for moving without interference. See attached document for photos indicating the incorrect and correct situation and an example of chafing marks indicating the interference condition. A display with reinforced cog wheel was introduced into production from structure week 2000811 and a new display, P/N 31285480 (exchange P/N 36050240), with reinforced protection for the FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) was introduced from structure week 200843.
