Checking Battery Charging For External iPod Units

Checking battery charging for external iPod-units

Fault-tracing information
Accessory USB unit (AUU) has the function of acting as interface between the vehicle's infotainment system and external USB- and iPod-units. Since later generations of iPod and iPhone use 5 V-charging, instead of 12 V-charging, it is not possible to charge the iPod-battery using the original cable intended for iPod devices. The iPod-battery can be charged using the USB-outlet, but then Accessory USB unit (AUU) does not handle playback of media stored on the external iPod-unit.

Check:
- What charging applies to the external iPod-unit.
- If there is a need for an adapter cable that supports 5V charging.

Fault-tracing
To replace the adapter cable, see installation instructions for the installation of iPod cable in the Accessory USB unit (AUU) on the Accessory Business Unit's homepage, http://vccs.volvocars.se/accessories/ii/
