Checking Handsfree, Accessory
Checking the handsfree, accessory
Fault-tracing information
Fault causes which will stop handsfree equipment working:
- Poor connection between the telephone and telephone holder
- The customer mobile phone is not set up for handsfree mode
- Fault in one of the power supply cables
- Defective fuse in one of the power supply cables
- Damaged loudspeaker(s) in the car
- The microphone switch is not properly connected
- Fault in the cable to the microphone
- Damaged microphone
- Fault or loose connection in the terminal for the handsfree box to the 15-supply.
Continue - Checking the power supply and ground terminal
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the power supply and ground terminal
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the connector for the handsfree box
- Ignition on.
Check the connector. Check for loose connections. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check the female and male sections of the connector. The terminals must not be damaged or pressed in.
Checking the 15-supply
The 15-supply controls autostart of the phone. With the ignition on, the voltage must be approximately 12 V. When the ignition is off the voltage must be 0 V.
Check the 15-supply. Take readings between terminals #5 and #1 on the handsfree box. If the voltage is not approximately 12 V, check between terminals #5 and #1. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Checking the 30-supply
Check the 30-supply. Take readings between terminals #2 and #1 on the handsfree box. The voltage must be approximately 12 V. If the voltage is not approximately 12 V between terminals #2 and #1 on the handsfree box check for a short-circuit to ground.
Remedy as necessary.

-------------------------------------------------
Checking contacts and telephone settings
Check that the telephone connections on the phone and in the holder are clean. Check that the connector guards are in not place.
Note! Depending on the mobile phone, it may need to be set to handsfree mode. See the phone manual for further information.
Continue - Checking the loudspeakers and microphone
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the loudspeakers and microphone
Hint: The sound from the handsfree box is always routed out through the passenger loudspeaker.
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the connectors for the handsfree box and microphone.
Check the connectors. Check for loose connections. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check the female and male sections of the connectors. The terminals must not be damaged or pressed in.
Hint: If the microphone cable is positioned too close to the phone, the network signals may disrupt sound reproduction. Check that the microphone cable is correctly installed.
Checking the loudspeaker
Check that the loudspeaker on the passenger side is working by listening to the audio equipment.
Check the wiring between terminal #7 on the handsfree box and the audio module (AUD/AUM). Also check the wiring between terminal #4 on the handsfree box and the audio module (AUD/AUM). Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. See the relevant wiring diagram for information about connection to the audio module (AUD/AUM).
Checking the microphone
Check that the microphone connectors are correctly pressed in.
Check the microphone cable. Check for a short-circuit to ground. Check for an open-circuit.
If there is a loose microphone, try to connect it.
