DESCRIPTION:
The start validation process on P1X cars is complex and this TJ has been created to assist the markets in fault tracing this system. The guided fault tracing procedure in VIDA should be used in case (intermittent or permanent) NO CRANK / NO START conditions exist on P1X cars.
NOTE:
There are some known behaviors of the immobilizer system that should be considered when making repairs. These behaviors are found in testing and have not been reported in vehicle reports. Replacing parts will not improve these characteristics. In all of these cases turning the key back to position 0 and restarting will result in normal start.
1. Inserting key and turning key to crank very quickly may not provide enough time for CEM to receive Immobilizer request from the ECM.
2. Immo time out can occur if the key is left in position 2 for 30-40 seconds and then slowly turning ignition to Crank. This can display the message "Immoblizer - See manual" in DIM.
3. Interference from other keys can disturb transponder readings. Remove additional keys.
SERVICE:
If an intermittent or permanent NO CRANK / NO START condition exists use the guided fault tracing in VIDA: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures/Cables and fuses/372 electrical distribution box fuse box/Check the start system.
Note:
MY 2009 and newer vehicles are NOT equipped with an SCL locking function. Use the appropriate fault tracing in VIDA
