Note! Check whether diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TRM-E001 has also been stored. If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TRM-E001 has been stored, fault-tracing must be carried out in accordance with fault-tracing for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TRM-E001.If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TRM-E001 has not been stored, perform fault-tracing as follows.
- Disconnect any connection from the socket for the tow hitch connector
- Ignition off, wait for at least 1 minute
- Break the power supply to the trailer module (TRM) by disconnecting the battery negative lead
- Disconnect connector B from the trailer module (TRM).
Caution! Do not touch the terminal pins in the trailer module (TRM). There is a risk of static discharge which could damage the control module.
Check the connectors to the trailer module (TRM) and the vehicle right-hand stop lamp. Check for damage to pins and terminals in the connectors. Also check the connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check for loose connections.
Remedy as necessary.
Check the cable between the trailer module (TRM) and the vehicle right-hand stop lamp. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the cable between trailer module (TRM) terminal #B3 and vehicle right-hand stop lamp terminal #A1.
Remedy as necessary.
