Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information TCM-0192

Condition

The gear selector module (GSM) communicates with the transmission control module (TCM) via an internal network, Local Interconnect Network (LIN). The gear selector module (GSM) controls functions such as shift-lock, manual shifting (Man) and the indication of the chosen gear position in the top panel of the gear selector.
In the gear selector assembly there is a hall sensor that is influenced by a permanent magnet installed on the shutter for the gear selector assembly. When the gear selector, with the ignition on and the brake pedal depressed, is moved out of position P, the hall sensor is deactivated and the gear blocking solenoid is activated at the same time. This is done to prevent the gear selector catching in position N.
With the ignition off and the gear selector in position P, the gear selector is locked mechanically as a result of the power to the solenoid having been cut. The gear selector is also locked in ignition positions "1" and "0".
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the transmission control module (TCM) sends a signal to activate the gear blocking solenoid and simultaneously registers that the hall sensor is not active.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is also stored if the transmission control module (TCM) has receive a signal indicated that gear positions R, N, D and the sensor are active.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed with the ignition on and when the gear selector is moved from P to R, N or D.
