Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information TCM-002E
Condition
The automatic transmission checks whether the lock-up solenoid is disengaged or slipping by comparing the speed signal from the transmission output speed sensor with the transmission speed (RPM) signal from the transmission speed sensor. The signals should "show"the same calculated speed (RPM). The transmission control module (TCM) also compares the speed from the transmission speed sensor with the engine speed (RPM). The RPM should then be greater or less than the transmission output RPM or speed depending on the gear selected. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module registers that lock-up does not function or if the transmission judders during lock-up.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed during normal driving.
Substitute value
- The transmission control module (TCM) does not activate the lock-up solenoid.
Possible source
- Poor quality transmission fluid
- The lock-up solenoid does not work
- Mechanical fault in the transmission.
Fault symptom[s]
- General warning lamp lit
- No lock-up function
- Vibration and jerking when shifting.
