Configuration fault

Checking the component




- Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.
Check for which supplemental restraint system equipment the central electronic module (CEM) is programmed.
- Read off by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
The following equipment is checked:
- Passenger airbag
- Switch for passenger airbag
- Occupant weight sensor (OWS).
Check whether the read value match the equipment installed in the vehicle.
Also check whether diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-0039 and/or SRS-003F and/or SRS-00A7 and/or SRS-0110 has been stored. If one or more of these diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) has been stored, the central electronic module (CEM) is incorrectly programmed. If none of these diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) has been stored, the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) is incorrectly programmed.
Remedy faulty equipment and/or download new software into the incorrectly programmed control module.

Verification

Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.




- Switch off the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead. Wait 10 seconds.

Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.

Read diagnostic trouble codes by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
If the fault is intermittent, the fault has been remedied.
