Checking the component
Note! Check whether diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-012B has also been stored. If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-012B has been stored, fault-tracing must be carried out in accordance with fault-tracing for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-012B.If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) SRS-012B has not been stored, perform fault-tracing as follows.
- Switch off the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.
Check whether the passenger airbag is installed or disconnected
- Disconnect the connector from passenger airbag stage 1
- Disconnect the connectors from the supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
Warning! Under no circumstances use an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument to take readings on a disconnected, non-deployed, pyrotechnical airbag. This could deploy the airbag!
Caution! Do not touch the terminal pins in the supplemental restraint system module (SRS). There is a risk of static discharge. This could damage the supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
Check the connectors to the passenger airbag and the supplemental restraint system module (SRS). Check for damage to pins and terminals in the connectors. Also check the other connectors that connect the SRS ignition cable between the supplemental restraint system module (SRS) and the passenger airbag. Also check the wiring.
Remedy as necessary.
Check that the correct supplemental restraint system module (SRS) is installed in the car.
- Connect the connector to the passenger airbag
- Connect the connectors for the supplemental restraint system module (SRS)
- Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
- Read off by clicking the VCT2000 symbol.
If no fault is found, replace the control module.
