Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information HCM-E010
Condition
The Headlamp Control Module (HCM) checks its own system voltage by comparing the DC voltage to the system voltage in the Central electronic module (CEM). Information about the system voltage in the Central electronic module (CEM) is transmitted via CAN to the Headlamp Control Module (HCM).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- System voltage in Headlamp Control Module (HCM) is at least 2.5 V lower than system voltage in Central electronic module (CEM).
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Engine running.
Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met. In the event of system communication problems, it is not possible to communicate with the control module. Therefore it will only be possible to read off the fault if it is intermittent.
Substitute value
- None.
Possible source
- Contact resistance, oxidation or open-circuit in the terminals.
- Low battery
- Short-circuit to ground in the power supply.
- Damaged fuse.
Fault symptom[s]
- Text window and warning symbol/Text message
- Headlights/Headlight aim is off
- Headlights/Vertical adjustment not influenced by steering wheel
