The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may for example be stored when:
- Insufficient coolant in cooling system.
- Clogged radiator.
These should therefore be checked and rectified first.

- Ignition on.
Activate the engine cooling fan (FC). Check that it starts and runs normally.
Try by activating different speeds on the electric cooling fan.
Remedy as necessary.

Verification

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.








- Verification should begin with a cold engine (+20 °C) so that the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor can be tested over as wide a temperature range as possible
- Ignition off
- Reconnect the connectors, reinstall components etc.
- Start the engine.
Read off the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor signal.
Check that the engine coolant temperature (ECT) is within its permitted range and corresponds with the engine warming up.

Checking the component and wiring








- Ignition off.
- Unplug the engine temperature sensor connectors.
Check the connectors. Check for loose connections. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation.
Check the resistance of the sensor between #1 and #2 (to the sensor).
Remedy as necessary.
