Fault-tracing
Checking the component and wiring
Check the fuse for the circuit.
Check the signal cable. Check for a short-circuit to ground.
Take readings between:
- Engine Control Module (ECM) #B8 (#C8) and electric cooling fan module #4.
Check between engine cooling fan (FC) connector terminal #2 and ground. Check for an open-circuit.
Check the power cable between the fuse for the engine cooling fan (FC) module and engine cooling fan (FC) module connector terminal #1. Check for an open-circuit.
Hint: The voltage must be approximately 12 V between engine cooling fan (FC) module connector (wiring side) terminals #1 and #2.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
Activate the engine cooling fan (FC).
Check that the engine cooling fan (FC) starts.
Does the engine cooling fan (FC) start?
Yes - VERIFIED
No - VERIFICATION FAILED
