Checking the intake system
Check the mass air flow (MAF) sensor connector. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the intake system for leakage. In particular, check the hoses and hose connectors between the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the throttle unit. Check for leakage and damage.
Check the intake system for blockages (e.g. contaminants in the throttle).
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Read off the correction factor for mass air flow and note it
- Start the engine. Increase the engine speed (RPM) a couple of times.
Read off the correction factor for mass air flow and check that the adaptation value is approaching 1. A normal value for the mass air flow correction factor is 0.8-1.2.
