Note! Troubleshooting for this diagnostic trouble code shall only be done in case customer symptoms regarding the brake lights are observed and if additional diagnostic trouble code regarding brake lights is detected.

Checking the status
- Ignition on.
Activate reading off of the stop lamp switch signal.
Activate or deactivate the stop lamp.
Check if the fault is permanent or intermittent.
The signal must change when the stop lamp switch is actuated (the brake pedal).
The fault is permanent if the signal does not change when activated or deactivated.
If the signal changes when actuated, this is an indication that the fault was present previously but that it is not active at the moment, i.e. the fault is intermittent.

Checking the component and wiring
Ignition off.
Check the central electronic module (CEM) connector (terminals (#E28 (#E15), and the stop lamp switch connectors. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation. Check for damage carefully.
Check the signal cable between central electronic module (CEM) terminal and the stop lamp switch. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) terminal #E28 (#28) and stop lamp switch connector terminal #2.
Check the return cable between central electronic module (CEM) terminal and the stop lamp switch. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) terminal #E15 (#15) and stop lamp switch connector terminal #1.
Remedy as necessary.

- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
Activate reading off the status. Click the VCT2000 symbol.
Activate and deactivate the function.
Check that the function is OK.
