Faulty Signal

Faulty signal

Checking the status

- Ignition on.
Check signal from battery temperature sensor.
Check if the fault is permanent or intermittent.
The fault is permanent if the battery temperature is outside the permitted range.
If the battery temperature is within the permitted range, this is an indication that the fault was present previously but that it is not active at the moment, i.e. the fault is intermittent.

Hint: If the signal indicates >4.85 volts, there is either a short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable or the battery temperature sensor is defective.

Is the value within its permitted range?

Yes - Verification

No - Checking the component and wiring

-------------------------------------------------

Checking the component and wiring
- Ignition off.
Check the central electronic module (CEM) connector (terminals #G6, #G13) and the battery temperature sensor connectors. Check for contact resistance. Check for oxidation. Check for damage carefully.
Check the signal cable between the central electronic module (CEM) and the battery temperature sensor. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) terminal #G13 (#13) and battery temperature sensor terminal #2.
Check the ground lead between central electronic module (CEM) terminal and the battery temperature sensor. Check for an open-circuit. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Take readings between:
- Central electronic module (CEM) terminal #G6 (#6) and battery temperature sensor terminal #1.
Remedy as necessary.
