Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information BCM-A030

Condition

Note! The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) applies only to cars with dynamic stability and traction control (DSTC).

The steering wheel module (SWM) is initiated by turning the steering wheel in any direction. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the brake control module (BCM) registers that the steering wheel module (SWM) has not been initiated within 120 seconds at a speed continuously above 10 km/h, or if a speed above 100 km/h has been achieved.
If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) BCM-A030 is stored alone, the steering wheel angle sensor has been initiated after diagnostic trouble code (DTC) BCM-A030 is stored but before the ignition is switched off.
If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) BCM-A030 is stored together with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) BCM-0108, the steering wheel angle sensor has not been initiated after diagnostic trouble code (DTC) BCM-A030 is stored.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed while the ignition is switched on.

Substitute value
- Active yaw control is blocked.

Hint: Brake system, abbreviations Brake System, Abbreviations

Possible source
- After starting, without initiating the steering wheel sensor, the driver has driven continuously for more than two minutes at above 10 km/h or above 100 km/h and has then switched off the ignition
- Internal fault in the steering wheel module (SWM).

Note! This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is not due to an internal hardware fault in the Brake control module (BCM) and must not be remedied by replacing the control module.

Fault symptom[s]
- The information lamp is lit
- The stability control system does not function.
